How We Handled Social Media Production
Felt Film worked with Grande Bakery to create a series of short-form social media videos that showcased their artisan products, bakery process, and stunning location in a way that matched their luxurious, handcrafted brand. The project’s two key strengths were how we transformed their initial idea of one video into a broader, more versatile content package and how we delivered polished videos quickly, including a same-day edit for immediate social media use. A key learning opportunity was adapting to client timelines and pre-launch hurdles, as the bakery was still setting up their facilities during pre-production. We also realised the importance of preparing for multi-format outputs to ensure that all footage could work across both vertical and horizontal platforms. In the end, the project was a huge success, with Grande Bakery thrilled about their new content and excited to grow their online presence.
Start Here…
Grande Bakery, an artisan patisserie in Logan, approached Felt Film to create a social media advertising video for their upcoming launch. Known for their exquisite pastries, sourdough bread, and beautifully crafted baked goods, Grande Bakery sought a video that would help establish their online presence and attract customers. Initially, the brief was for a single high-production 30-second video, but through strategic consultation, Felt Film proposed a more versatile solution, delivering a total of 12 short-form videos that showcased their products, location, and baking process.
Pre-Production
The pre-production phase involved detailed planning to ensure the videos were efficiently captured over two shoot days. Felt Film provided Grande Bakery with a shot list outlining the concept for each of the 12 videos, a mood board with stylistic references, and a shoot schedule to coordinate the availability of products and locations. Given that the bakery was still setting up their facilities, there was a lot of back-and-forth communication to finalise details. The team’s flexibility and organisation helped ensure the shoots were well-planned, despite the scheduling challenges.
Post-Production
The post-production process was straightforward and efficient. Felt Film categorised the videos into product, location, and process videos and edited each one with a fast-paced, engaging style suited for social media. The videos were designed to grab attention quickly, with beauty shots and action shots keeping viewers engaged. Minor revisions were requested, but overall the client was thrilled with the initial drafts. One process video was filmed and delivered within 24 hours to meet the client’s immediate needs. The entire batch of 12 videos was completed within a few days, ensuring Grande Bakery had fresh content ready for their launch.
Onboarding
Grande Bakery found Felt Film through a job posting and connected via a phone call to discuss their project. They initially envisioned a fast-paced, cinematic video inspired by the style of Daniel Schiffer. However, Felt Film recognised that a single 30-second video would not provide the best return on investment. Instead, the team pitched a more comprehensive package: 12 short-form videos focusing on the bakery’s products, location, and artisanal process. This approach would allow Grande Bakery to build a stronger, more engaging social media presence and maximise the impact of their budget.
Production
The production phase went smoothly, with two half-day shoots capturing all 12 videos. The first shoot focused on the bakery’s artisanal process, including the creation of their sourdough bread. The team used vintage Nikkor lenses from the 1980s to give the footage a distinct, handcrafted aesthetic, and all videos were filmed vertically to suit social media platforms. The second shoot covered product videos and location shots. There were minor challenges, such as securing permissions from the shopping centre and filming product shots while customers were present, but the team adapted quickly. By the end of the production phase, Felt Film had captured a range of high-quality footage that beautifully showcased Grande Bakery’s offerings.
Overall Impact & Success
The final videos were delivered via Dropbox, with all 12 short-form videos ready for immediate social media use. Grande Bakery was very happy with the final product, praising Felt Film’s flexibility during pre-production and the quality of the footage. They appreciated the team’s understanding of their needs and the strategic approach to social media content. The client expressed excitement about using the videos to grow their online presence, and Felt Film is equally excited to see the bakery thrive and looks forward to visiting them in person to sample their creations.
