Case Study
Online Video Masterclass
Here’s the gist…
Felt Film collaborated with Centre of Movement to bring their decade-long dream of an online masterclass course to life, producing over 100 professional videos with motion graphics, captions, and intro animations, tailored for their Kajabi platform. The project’s success was driven by two key strengths: capturing detailed instructional content in an engaging and accessible format and delivering a user-friendly structure that enhanced the course experience for their audience. Key learning opportunities included the need for clear feedback systems to streamline post-production and maintaining consistency in camera equipment to simplify colour grading and editing workflows. The project was a financial and personal success for Centre of Movement, broadening their reach and helping more families access their invaluable services.
Centre of Movement, a high-end health and rehabilitation business specialising in holistic therapy for children with neurological and physical disabilities, approached Felt Film to bring a long-time dream to life. They envisioned creating a professional, user-friendly online course that would allow their expertise to reach a broader audience and diversify their revenue streams. This case study explores how Felt Film successfully brought this vision to reality, from onboarding to project delivery and performance review.
Okay first off…
The pre-production phase began with planning sessions to determine the course structure and production logistics. Felt Film worked closely with Centre of Movement to outline a content plan that broke down complex exercises into easy-to-follow video segments. Practical details, such as scheduling staff, securing client permissions, and booking children to demonstrate exercises, were also addressed. Felt Film ensured that all necessary equipment was rented and prepped for a smooth two-day shoot. The team prioritised having a director's monitor, multiple cameras, and various lighting setups to capture the small yet crucial details of each exercise.
Pre-Production
Post-production posed some initial challenges, particularly in managing footage from different cameras and coordinating client feedback. Felt Film learned the importance of a structured feedback process and implemented a more effective approach by breaking down long sessions into shorter, titled segments. This adjustment made it significantly easier for Centre of Movement to review and provide input. The final project consisted of over 100 professionally edited videos, complete with motion graphics titles and intro animations, tailored for Kajabi’s platform.
Post-Production
The production phase ran over one and a half days, with Felt Film setting up equipment early to maximise shooting time. Filming was conducted across two sets to streamline the process and ensure efficient transitions between scenes. Despite some unexpected challenges, such as lapel mic issues and the use of different camera brands, the team adapted quickly. One key takeaway was the importance of maintaining consistency in camera brands to simplify post-production workflows. Overall, the shoot was well-received, with parents and staff impressed by the professional setup and ability to view live footage on the director's monitor. Great job team!
Video Production
The final project was delivered via Dropbox (with plans to improve future deliveries by providing physical drives to clients). Centre of Movement was thrilled with the results, praising the clarity and quality of the videos. After launching the course, they saw an immediate financial success, with over 200 sign-ups within three weeks. Far exceeding their expectations. Felt Film also provided additional short-form content, such as reels and social media snippets, to support the course launch.
Delivery
This project was a resounding success for Centre of Movement, both financially and personally. They not only recouped their investment in production costs but also achieved a long-held dream of creating an online course to broaden their reach. For Felt Film, the project demonstrated the importance of strong pre-production planning, consistent equipment choices, and a well-structured feedback process. The partnership with Centre of Movement is ongoing, with potential for future courses that build on this initial success.
